The world has changed so drastically over the past couple of years and so has relationship statuses. There is no secret that divorces have surged but on a lighter note; so has marriages!

The Pandemic has shed some light on desperate times and desperate measures. Who would you turn to if you thought the world were coming to an end? Studies show that marriages increase during stressful times.

According to an October Brides' survey of 4,000 engaged couples, 82 percent said that living through the pandemic has made them even more eager to get married. Some wonder if these marriages are sparked by love or fear?

Why do people get married?
  • for love.
  • for companionship.
  • to signify a life-long commitment.
  • to provide security for children.
  • to make a public commitment to each other.
  • for legal status and financial security.
  • for religious beliefs.

There are various reasons why people get married but what matters the most is the actual union. Anything is possible when two people are willing and trying.

Lupus is known as the mysterious disease because it can produce a variety of symptoms in different individuals. It may take some time for a physician to actually make the diagnosis. Lupus is an autoimmune disease. This means that your immune system attacks healthy cells and tissues by mistake. This can damage many parts of the body, including the joints, skin, kidneys, heart, lungs, blood vessels, and brain.

The symptoms of lupus vary and often mimic those of many other diseases, including other autoimmune diseases and connective tissue disorders. Dr. Patients may experience symptoms of lupus for years before they realize something is wrong, so doctors will need to take a comprehensive medical history before they can diagnose.

9 out of 10 people with the condition are female. African American females are three times more likely to develop lupus than white females. Some scientists think that it is related to genes, but we know that hormones and environmental factors play a role in who develops lupus.

With close follow-up and treatment, 80-90% of people with lupus can expect to live a normal life span. It is true that medical science has not yet developed a method for curing lupus, and some people do die from the disease. However, for the majority of people living with the disease today, it will not be fatal.

Living with lupus
  1. Learn how to tell that a flare is coming.
  2. See your doctors regularly.
  3. Reduce stress by setting realistic goals for yourself.
  4. Limit the time you spend in the sun and in fluorescent and halogen light.
  5. Choose healthy foods most of the time.
  6. Get enough sleep and rest.

If you feel that you may have Lupus please follow up with your physician about your concerns.
